Not pretending to exist

Amazingly, I keep getting random posts/messages about my fics that are ages old, so I've finally decided to not be lazy and do a quick post on this ancient LJ account. Sorry, yes, I closed my webpage a couple years back. It was a paid account, and since I barely write anymore (work is lame), I decided to close it. In exchange, I opened an AO3 account under the name of Sukunami. I haven't gotten all of my fics on there, but the big ones have been added. And with enough begging, I can be convinced to add more.

Thank you all for being amazing readers of my old works, and sorry for being one of many fanfic authors who has more or less faded into the mist. :p

Uh, whoops?

Holy crap, I can't believe it's been this long since my last post. Uh, whoops? ^^; Plenty has happened and more has stayed the same. Frankly, I can't believe I never posted about the cat saga from last year. I think I'll save that for a separate post. I'm still working for the same company that has been dying a very slow death. I'm sticking with the company to the end because, honestly, I love the people I work with, I get to work remote from home, my paychecks are still clearing the bank, and I continue to get good experience to add to the resume. So no reason to quit, but I do keep an eye on the job market and there is plenty available for when the company finally goes belly-up.

I'm sorry to say I haven't been writing much, just a few hundred words here and there. I wish I could find my focus, but that is long gone. I blame my phone and the shear volume of media available these days. Oh, and my Crunchyroll subscription. :D

But the real reason I decided to post today: I visited gardensgnome in Australia along with trespassor!!!! I've never left the main continent before, let alone going that kind of distance, but it was worth it for visiting Gnome and for the adventures we all had.

For photos, you can look HERE.

So the trip. Terri came up with the brilliant plan to do a day layover in Hawaii on our way to Australia. We did Waikiki, and man, it was like have a long bath and soothing white noise to reduce stress. I never thought of myself as a Hawaii person. I've only done beaches in California and Florida, so I didn't realize just how wonderful a beach can really be. I loved how everything pretty much had a beach view from lunch, dinner, and breakfast to walking to the hotel. The ocean was the perfect to wash away job stresses and get into vacation mode.

We then flew to Brisbane and got a shuttle to Gnome's place in Cooroy. We stayed with her for about a week, which was about 25 minutes from Noosa and the beach. Driving on the left side of the road was stressful and involved a lot of windshield wiper action instead of the turn signal, but Terri and I survived. :) Terri and I did horseback rides on the beach and went swimming in the ocean. We did a day trip to Brisbane and met Sin, who SO kindly drove us around the city. She introduced us to such yummy Japanese food for lunch, and then we were off to the Lone Pine Sanctuary. I got to hold a koala!! And feed kangaroos and wallabies! It was so amazing. We then caught X-men Apocalypse and got ice cream. :) In the following days, we did the Eumundi markets and did a lot souvenir shopping, had a pig spit roast lunch, visited Gnome's parents, had a horseback ride in the hills, and a couple last visits to the beach.

Terri sadly had to leave us for other priorities; meanwhile, Gnome and I traveled to Sydney. We had an amazing view of the Opera House from the hotel room, even though the hotel was on a steep hill that was killer when coming back. We did tourist things of visiting the Opera House and Botanical Gardens (alas, not really the season for that), we did our own version of a chocolate tour since the real one happened on Saturday and we were off to the Blue Mountains then, and we did a walk of the Vivid Light Festival that night. The Opera House show was lovely! The Blue Mountains tour was amazing with a view of the "mountains" (sorry, but when the highest point is still below the elevation for Denver, I have to chuckle), a walk through the rain forest, a visit to another Sanctuary (I liked Lone Pine better), and a ferry ride back to Sydney. It was then more Vivid that night in Darling Harbor. The last day in Sydney was spent in the Aquarium and at the Powerhouse Museum for the DC Lego exhibit. We had one last hit of chocolate and then I had to make my long trek back home so I could get back to work before month-end.

So hey, I guess I'm a world traveler now. *laugh* I still hate traveling, but I think I'm getting slightly better at it. Plans for England and Japan now don't feel so impossible, and we've started talks about a New Zealand (Lord of the Rings tour!) and Australia trip for another time. We'll see what actually happens, but anything feels possible now. :D

Keeping this super short

It's been a year and I probably owe some updates, but I can get into all of that later. Instead, I wanted to mention that I'm heading to Yaoi Con this weekend. If anyone is around and wants to meet up, let me know! I'll probably be most easily found at a friend's Artist Alley booth, Studio Sesame.

Very Thankful

To those celebrating today, Happy Thanksgiving! Even if you aren’t celebrating, take a moment to be grateful for the wonderful things in your lives – loving family, amazing friends, adorable pets, warm homes, and good health.

Sorry for not posting in a long, long time here. I could use a variety of excuses, but honestly, I feel horrible for not writing anything new in ages. I started a new SxS fic in February, got about 4,000 words into it, and then… I assume I fell into a coma or something since it’s now November. :p Truly, I have been busy with work and very random activities, but I’ve also spent more than enough time on TV and falling back into anime. Yes, after several years, I’m back to binge watching anime like the addict I am.

I won’t bore you with details, so here are the major events of the year:Collapse )

And that’s the update this time. Thank you to all of you for your continued support and patience. I hope everyone is doing well, and we’ll see when I get around to posting the next time! ^v^

Wrapping up 2013...

HAPPY NEW YEAR, all of you wonderful and crazy people!!!

It has been an insane year, and while it was definitely frustrating, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. In fact, I think I ended up on top overall, and I'm very curious what 2014 has in store.

What you're all curious about, though, is the writing front. Frankly, I don't think I've written more than 1,000 words in the last year and it makes me sad inside. Truly, I would love to write some SxS again, but I have no ideas that have struck a cord with me. You are welcome to make suggestions in the comments, but I'll make zero promises about actually writing something. While I would love to get something on paper, I need true inspiration to make myself sit at a computer to write after spending 10hrs on spreadsheets all day. I guess we'll see what 2014 brings in that sense.

I hope you all survived 2013 just fine and with a few new life lessons to help you in 2014. Let's continue forward with all of the good stuff and leave the irritating shit behind!! :D

So F-ing tired...

I'm certain you've all noticed by now, but the website appears to be functioning again. At least that is one less worry.

With my eventual shift to working from home, I'm thinking that I might actually have more time to write again (no commute and nobody watching over my shoulder during slow times). I'm so excited about that possibility, you have no clue, and I'm itching to get back to Squall and Seifer. I have a plot bunny nibbling at my ankles about a possible Orphan Black type story (if you haven't seen Orphan Black, I definitely recommend it). A handful of Seifers running around and a confused Squall sounds like fun. :D What do you think?

Aftermath...

The short version of my job woes--I'm looking for a new one. I got my expectations high and I should have known better. Luckily, the job market looks pretty hot for accountants, so I'm not worried. Hopefully I'll find something more lasting.

And that's my tale to date. Wish it was more entertaining. Hopefully there will be better news in the near future. ^^;
